Phyllis D. Murphy September 11, 1943 – August 11, 2025

Phyllis Dailene Murphy was born September 11, 1943 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to the late Dale and Eula (Watson) Hastey. She passed away Monday, August 11, 2025 in Okmulgee at 81 years of age. Phyllis grew up in Morris and graduated from Morris High School. She later graduated from Northeastern State University and became an English teacher. Phyllis went on to spend the remainder of her career working in Adult Protective Services for Oklahoma Department of Human Services. She married Orvel Murphy on September 29, 1977 in Henryetta. Phyllis and Orvel were faithful members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Phyllis enjoyed being active in her church as well as spending time with family and friends. Her and Orvel also enjoyed traveling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Orvel Murphy.

Survivors include her children, Stephen Nelson and wife Monica, Lacey LeGall and husband Thierry and Sharolyn Cunningham and companion John Kistler, step-children, Amber Murphy, Wayne Murphy and wife Carol and Sharon Cowley, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and siblings, Ronnie Hastey and wife Mary and Glenda Shockley and husband Jim. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Pepper Cayenne.

Viewing will be 3:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. Thursday, August 14, 2025 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 15, 2025 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Hastey Family Cemetery.
