WORSE THAN WE THOUGHT: Jim Jordan Erupts Over FBI’s Assault on Democracy

Jim-Jordan

Congressman blasts Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation for targeting conservative senators and even one sitting member of Congress

A Firestorm on Capitol Hill

A fiery exchange erupted on Capitol Hill as Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH), Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, delivered scathing remarks regarding newly uncovered details of Operation Arctic Frost—a 2022 FBI probe that allegedly targeted multiple conservative lawmakers. The operation, led by Special Counsel Jack Smith, reportedly tracked the phone calls and private communications of at least eight Republican senators and one member of Congress during the January 6th investigation.

Jordan did not mince words during his appearance, saying, “It’s always worse than we thought. Who would have believed they’d be spying on sitting senators and members of Congress?” He confirmed that investigators even seized the phone of Congressman Scott Perry, scrutinizing his movements and daily habits under the guise of surveillance.

Weaponizing the Justice System

According to Jordan, the surveillance went far beyond legitimate oversight. “This is what happens when you weaponize the government,” he said. “From the Comey FBI to the Garland Justice Department, we’ve seen a pattern of political targeting against conservatives for nearly a decade.”

The congressman revealed that House investigators have already subpoenaed members of Jack Smith’s team for depositions, though they’ve remained tight-lipped. Jordan hinted that Smith himself could soon be called to testify before Congress.

Republican Lawmakers Under Watch

Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI), one of the alleged targets, described the revelations as “outrageous” and “an assault on democracy.” Johnson said, “It’s not Republicans who are a threat to democracy—it’s President Obama, President Biden, and the radical left that has weaponized our institutions.”

The targeted senators reportedly include Marsha Blackburn, Lindsey Graham, and Bill Hagerty, though the FBI has not publicly confirmed the list. Many of those under surveillance were in communication with former President Trump around January 6th, leading Jordan to suspect political motives behind the data collection.

A Pattern Stretching Back to 2016

Jordan drew a direct line between the Arctic Frost revelations and earlier controversies surrounding the 2016 intelligence community assessment that alleged ties between Trump and Russia. He accused former FBI Director James Comey, former CIA Director John Brennan, and former DNI James Clapper of altering intelligence reports to undermine the incoming Trump administration.

“They changed the report,” Jordan asserted. “President-elect Trump thought he was receiving a normal briefing at Trump Tower. Instead, it was a setup. They briefed him on the fake dossier—then leaked it to the press to justify the Mueller probe.”

Biden’s Ukraine Connection Resurfaces

Jordan also touched on newly released documents from former intelligence chief John Ratcliffe, alleging that Joe Biden, as vice president, suppressed intelligence reports about Burisma—the Ukrainian energy company that placed Hunter Biden on its board. Ratcliffe’s 2023 findings suggested that Ukrainian officials expressed concerns about the Bidens’ financial ties and potential corruption.

“Hunter wasn’t qualified to be on that board,” Jordan said. “Joe Biden then used U.S. tax dollars as leverage to fire the prosecutor investigating Burisma. That’s the real conflict of interest—and that’s what he didn’t want made public.”

Calls for Accountability

When asked whether the pattern of actions amounted to a coordinated conspiracy, Jordan suggested that the current legal proceedings against James Comey could mark the start of accountability. He also pointed to John Brennan and others who he believes misled Congress about their involvement in the early stages of the Russia probe.

“This was all designed to make sure President Trump never ran again,” Jordan said. “The American people deserve the full truth about how their government was used against them.”

The Bigger Picture

As revelations continue to surface, Operation Arctic Frost may represent one of the most explosive chapters in the long-running debate over government overreach. Congressman Jordan’s Judiciary Committee plans to continue pressing for unsealed records, testimony from key figures, and potentially, criminal referrals for those found to have violated constitutional protections.

For now, one thing is clear—Jordan’s message to the American people is unwavering: “This isn’t about politics. It’s about restoring trust in our justice system and ensuring this kind of abuse never happens again.”
