First Look: $121 Million MAPS 4 Stadium Set to Spark New OKC Sports & Entertainment District
Oklahoma City officials revealed the initial design concepts on Wednesday for the highly anticipated MAPS 4 Multipurpose Stadium — a $121-million project that will become the centerpiece of a future sports and entertainment district just south of Bricktown.
Construction is expected to begin this spring, with the venue slated to welcome fans by January 2028.
Mayor David Holt emphasized how impactful sports investments have been for the city’s growth.
“Over the years, we’ve seen major economic returns from every sports facility we’ve built — from whitewater and softball to basketball and baseball,” Holt said. “Soccer is the most-watched sport on the planet, and when MAPS 4 was created in 2019, we knew OKC needed to stay competitive. With the support of TIF funds and October’s voter-backed bond issue, we finally have the resources to achieve our long-term soccer goals. The design shown today represents that vision, and as both a soccer fan and a supporter of our city’s growth, I couldn’t be more excited.”
A Modern Stadium Inspired by Oklahoma’s Landscape
The new stadium will sit on a nine-acre site donated by Echo Investment Capital. Its layout blends natural Oklahoma influences with a forward-looking, contemporary style. The north side opens to striking views of the downtown skyline, while a sweeping canopy roof and a modern fabric façade frame the open sky. Programmable LED lighting will illuminate the exterior, adding energy and visual excitement on event nights.
Designed by global architecture firm Populous, the facility will feature a USSF-approved soccer field and seating for more than 10,000 fans, most of whom will be covered by the protective canopy. Amenities will include:
-
A club and supporters section
-
Premium suites
-
Locker rooms
-
Multipurpose event spaces
Although soccer will be the main attraction, the stadium is engineered to host a wide spectrum of activities — including football, youth sports, concerts, and community gatherings.
“Working with Echo, the City, and the OKC for Soccer movement has allowed us to imagine a venue that acts as both a civic landmark and a catalyst for downtown life,” said Jonathan Mallie, Managing Director of the Americas for Populous.
Home Base for OKC’s Professional Soccer Future
Echo Investment Capital, majority owner of OKC’s professional soccer club, is leading the OKC for Soccer | OKC es Fútbol initiative and will also operate the new stadium. It will become the home for both men’s and women’s teams.
“This development will set the tone for a new cultural district in downtown Oklahoma City,” said Christian Kanady, Echo founder and CEO. “It will bring sports fans, creatives, families, and community-focused investors together to build a destination that inspires pride and opportunity.”
The stadium will sit just south of Bricktown and east of the OKC Convention Center near I-40. As development continues, Echo and Robinson Park plan to create a full sports-oriented entertainment district. Visitors will eventually be able to walk to restaurants, shops, residential spaces, and events throughout the area.
Court Jeske, President of OKC for Soccer, noted that the venue is being designed with the community at its core.
“This is much more than a sports facility,” Jeske said. “It’s a gathering place with a field at the center — a place for soccer, football, concerts, celebrations, and everyday community life.”
Funding the Vision
The stadium’s financial structure includes funding from:
-
MAPS 4
-
The 2025 OKC Bond
-
Tax Increment Financing (TIF)
-
Private contributions
-
Additional economic development resources
